Trinity Women to Face Hendrix in Opening Round of NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The eighth-ranked Trinity women's basketball team opens the 64-team NCAA Division III Tournament in Richardson, Texas, on Friday.

Trinity (26-1) meets Hendrix (AR) College in the first round at the University of Texas-Dallas. UT-Dallas plays Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA) Colleges in the other first-round game. The winners advances to Saturday's second-round matchup. Playing times will be announced.

The NCAA Sectionals are slated for Match 10-11, with the sites to be announced. The Semifinals and Championship games will be played March 17-18 at Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Trinity is competing in its second consecutive NCAA Tournament, and the third in five years under Head Coach Cameron Hill. Last year, the Tigers lost 63-57 to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the first round at Tyler, Texas.

The Tigers earned their berth by winning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship last week in Georgetown, Texas. Trinity defeated Texas Lutheran University 78-67 to claim the program's first-ever back-to-back title, and the automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs.

This marks the ninth time the Tigers have advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Trinity captured the NCAA Championship in 2003, and entered the event for the first time in 1995.
