Trinity Women's Basketball Slides in National Rankings

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Trinity University women’s basketball team dropped in the national rankings this week after earning the first loss of the season last weekend.

Trinity (14-1, 3-1 SCAC) is now No. 16 in the D3hoops.com poll, while coming in at No. 19 in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) ranking.

The Tigers suffered their first loss of the season in a conference game against Texas Lutheran University (12-3, 4-0 SCAC) Saturday. The Bulldogs secured an 85-78 win after a strong third quarter performance where they outscored the Tigers 23-8.

Trinity’s Monica Holguin leads the team in scoring with 14.6 points per game, which is third in the conference. Micah Weaver is just behind her, averaging 13.9 points, which ranks fifth in the SCAC.

Trinity leads the conference in scoring (74.0 points per game), field goal percentage (44.3%), assists (15.5) and steals (13.7).

The Tigers return to action Friday at Colorado College before taking on the University of Dallas.
