LILBURN, Ga. - Despite a hiatus in competition last week, the Trinity University women's basketball team jumped four spots to No. 21 in Tuesday's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) ranking.
This season, Trinity's offense is averaging 71.1 points per game on 44.1% shooting, both marks that lead the league. The Tigers also lead the SCAC in three-point shooting percentage (31.4%), free throw percentage (75.9%) and steals per game (13.3).
Defensively, the undefeated Tigers are allowing just 54.0 points from their opponents, while holding them to a shooting percentage of .287, which ranks eighth in the nation. Trinity's three-point defense is also one of the best in Division III, with the Tigers holding opponents to just 20.5% from beyond the arc.
The Tigers return to the court Saturday as they face Puget Sound. The following day, Trinity will take on Pacific Lutheran University.
