Trinity's Rachel Chavez Nominated for WBCA Good Works Team

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trinity University sophomore guard Rachel Chavez has been nominated for the Allstate Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Good Works Team.

The Allstate WBCA Good Works Team honors student-athletes who perform community service, and exhibit leadership among their peers. The Good Works Team will be announced in February.

Chavez, from El Paso, Texas, assisted autistic children and teenagers at San Antonio's One for Autism. She also worked with adults at The Arc of San Antonio, assisting with skill-learning tasks.

On campus, Chavez is the treasurer of Trinity's Anthropology Society, and serves as a resident mentor in the University's residence halls. An anthropology major, Chavez has qualified for Trinity's Dean's List, the SCAC Academic Honor Roll, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Chavez was the recipient of the prestigious Trinity University Dean's Scholarship.

Chavez has played in each of Trinity's five games this season. Led by fifth-year Head Coach Cameron Hill, Chavez and her teammates are sporting an undefeated 5-0 record.

The Tigers will compete in the Cliff Garrison Classic Saturday and Sunday at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. First up will be Hendrix on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., followed by Sunday's 11:00 a.m. matchup with Rhodes (TN) College.
