NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The top four seeds in both the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's and women's tennis championship tournament advanced to the semifinals during the first day of competition at Burns Park Tennis Center.
On the men's side top seeded Trinity University will meet fourth-seeded Oglethorpe University while second-seeded DePauw University will meet third-seeded Rhodes College. Trinity advanced with a 9-0 win over No. 9 Centre College while Oglethorpe defeated No. 5 Sewanee: University of the South, 8-1. DePauw earned its semifinal berth with a 9-0 win over No. 7 Southwestern University. Rhodes comes into the semifinals on the heels of a 9-0 win over No. 6 Millsaps College.
On the women's side top seeded DePauw will meet fourth-seeded Centre while second-seeded Sewanee will play third-seeded Trinity. DePauw advanced with a 9-0 win over No. 8 Colorado College while Centre defeated No. 5 Rhodes, 5-4. Sewanee earned its semifinal berth with a 9-0 win over No. 7 Southwestern. Trinity comes into the semifinals on the heels of an 8-1 win over No. 6 Austin College.
