DePauw Tied for Fourth; Centre Eighth at Midpoint of NCAA Women's Golf Championships

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.
- Top-seeded DePauw shot a second-round 335 for a two-day total of 665 which is good for a tie for fourth place with Illinois Wesleyan at the halfway point of the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort. Centre College remained in eighth place with a two day score of 672. Official website

Methodist leads with a 637 followed by Gustavus Adolphus at 655 and St. Mary's (Ind.) with a 656.

DePauw's Paige Gooch and Camila Romero are tied for 16th at 165, while Taylor Beaty is tied for 27th with a 168. Natlie Gough follows with a 169 and tied for 35th and Kelly Gaughan is tied for 41st at 170.

Gooch was DePauw's top performer on Wednesday with an 82, while Beaty shot an 83. Romero and Gough each finished with 85 and Gaughan shot an 87.

Centre junior Emily Bachert (pictured above right) moved into a tie for fourth-place among all individuals following the second round. Bachert shot a 79 curing the second round of play to give her a two-day score of 159. She completed the first round with an 80.

Colonels' freshman Allison Hancock is tied for 19th place with a score of 166 after posting an 80 on Wednesday. Sophomore Whitney Miller recorded an 85 for the second straight day to put her tied for 41st place with a 170. Senior Paige Burton has a two day score of 177, following an 88 in the second round of action. Sophomore Lauren Mashburn is currently tied for 84th place, as she improved on Wednesday by shooting a 90 to give her a two day total of 86.

Senior Stephanie Mingos of Rhodes College, playing in her fourth consecutive NCAA Championship, fired a second-round 81 to improve from a tie for 35th place to a tie for 19th (166) among all individuals at the halfway point.

DePauw is making its 10th appearance overall at the Division III Championships and 10th straight after finishing sixth last year. In its nine previous appearances, DePauw has placed second in 2007 and 2008 and third from 2003 through 2006. They also were fourth in 2002.

The Tigers' 10 appearances rank third in the 12-year history of the event behind Methodist's 12 and Wisconsin-Eau Claire's 11. The Tigers' seven top-four finishes are second only to Methodist's 11 as the Monarchs have won all 11 previous titles.
