KIMBERLY BURCH OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a senior from Dublin, Calif., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, March 19 through Tuesday, March 25. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 6)
Burch earned medalist honors at the Linda Lowery Invitational, firing rounds of 76 and 75 to finish at 151 (+7) and three shots clear of the second place finisher. She led the 26-player field in pars (21) and birdies (5) over the two days of competition at the Teravista Golf Club, and her average score on the par fours (4.30) and par fives (5.00) was also tops among the competition.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Leah Torres of St. Thomas led the Celts to the team title at the Linda Lowery Invitational, finishing in second place individually with a +10 overall score (154). The freshman had rounds of 75 and 79 to finish three strokes off the winning score. Junior Sloan Panter of Southwestern paced the Pirates at Jekyll Island Collegiate, posting rounds of 83, 83 and 78 (244; +26). Her final round 78 catapulted her 10 places up the individual leaderboard. Sophomore Abby Yanta of Schreiner posted back-to-back rounds of 85 to finish at 170 (+26) and in 13th place at the Linda Lowery Invitational.
