RYLEIGH ERICKSON OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a graduate student from McAllen, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Sunday, September 29 through Tuesday, October 1. SCAC Golf Release (Week 2)
Erickson fired a final round 72, the low round of the day, to catapult 16 places up the leaderboard and finish in sixth alone with a two-day total of 153 (+9) at the Texas Legends Cup, hosted by Mary Hardin-Baylor and played at the Legends Golf Club in Kingsland, Texas. Her performance helped lead the Pirates to a sixth-place team finish.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Abby Yanta of Schreiner posted a top 10 finish at the Texas Legends Cup to pace the Mountaineers, firing rounds of 75 and 79 to finish at 154 (+10) and a tie for seventh place. First-year Kenlee Turner of McMurry led the War Hawks with a 26th place individual finsih at the Texas Legends Cup, shooting rounds of 81 and 84 for 165 (+21). Turner had a birdie on Tuesday on hole No. 1. First-year Paige Zehner of Concordia (Texas) improved her opening round by five strokes and finished with a two-day score of 90-85-175 (+31) to place 42nd at the Texas Legends Cup.
