CHRISTIAN RODRIGUEZ OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, September 7 through Tuesday, September 13. SCAC Golf Release (Week 1)
The reigning SCAC Golfer-of-the-Year, Rodriguez opened the 2022-23 season with a bang, earning medalist honors at the TLU/John Bohmann Memorial Invitation after firing a two-day total of 140 (-4). He was the lone golfer under par after posting back-to-back rounds in the red with scores of 71 and 69. Rodriguez trailed by one shot going into the final round before firing a three-under 69 to secure an impressive four stroke victory.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Jonathan Miller of St. Thomas paced the Celts at the California State Intercollegiate by finishing tied for fifth with a three-round total of 210. Miller saved his best for last, posting a final round score of 68 to help lift St. Thomas to a fourth-place team finish. He finished the tournament with 10 birdies, one eagle and 38 pars. Sophomore Jacob Mason of Trinity led the Tigers to the team title at the TLU/John Bohmann Memorial Invitation, finishing tied for second, jumping eight places with a final round score of 70 (-2). Sophomore Karsten Paciotti of Dallas finished tied for sixth at the TLU/John Bohmann Memorial Invitation with a two-round total of 146, including an opening round even par score of 72. Sophomore Tobey Wills of Texas Lutheran paced the Bulldogs at their home TLU/John Bohmann Memorial Invitation, finishing 12th with a 4-over par finish of 148. Senior Zhao Yung Gu of Schreiner turned in a tied for 14th-place finish at the TLU/John Bohmann Memorial Invitation to lead the Mountaineers with a total score of 149.
