Taylor Despriet, Southwestern University, Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week (Week 4)

TAYLOR DESPRIET OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior from Cumming, Ga., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, February 21 to Sunday, February 27. (SCAC Women's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 4)

Despriet went 2-0 at No. 2 singles over the weekend, helping Southwestern post its two highest-ranked wins in program history with victories over No. 14 Denison and No. 4 Kenyon. Despriet defeated Denison's Monique Brual 6-2, 6-3 on Saturday, then Kenyon College's Eleni Dakos 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 on Sunday to clinch the match for Southwestern.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Ruth Hill of Trinity picked up a pair of singles victories in the Tigers' trip to Southern California last weekend, both in the top half of the individual lineup. Hill put together a pair of 6-1 sets at CaltTech before preserving the 9-0 shutout victory for Trinity at Occidental College with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 three-setter. Junior Paula Acosta of Texas Lutheran had a dominant week in singles competition - winning both her matches in straight sets - 6-1, 6-2 against Howard Payne and 6-4, 6-4 against McMurry. Junior Victoria Morales of Schreiner earned a 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 singles in the Mountaineers' only match of the week - a win against McMurry.
