ANIYAH BURKE OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore guard from Cedar Park, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 1 through Sunday, January 7. SCAC Women's Basketball Release (Week 9)

Burke led the Pirates to a pair of key SCAC road wins last weekend knocking off St. Thomas, 54-49, on Friday and Centenary, 54-42, on Sunday. The sophomore averaged 18.5 points on an impressive 52 percent shooting, highlighted by 21 points, including 10 of the Pirates 13 fourth quarter points to secure a comeback win over the Celts. She then followed that up with a game-high 16 points in the victory over the Ladies on Sunday. Burke’s 21 points on Friday was the fourth time this season and second time in the last three games she has reached the 20-point plateau. Additionally, Burke added 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 0.5 steals per game in the two wins. Burke’s efforts have sparked the first three-game win streak for Southwestern since December 2022.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore guard TaNyjah Plumber of Centenary averaged 15 PPG in the Ladies’ two home games over the weekend against Texas Lutheran and Southwestern. Plumber scored a team-high 18 points on Friday against TLU as she played 35 minutes and went 5-for-11 from the floor, 4-for-6 from beyond the arc, and 4-for-6 from the free throw line with three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. She then scored 12 points on Sunday against Southwestern as she reached double figures for the seventh time this season and has done so in four-straight games. Junior center Zoe Tomlinson of Colorado College posted back-to-back double-doubles over the weekend to help lift the Tigers to a pair of SCAC home victories, knocking off Trinity on Friday and Schreiner on Sunday. Against the Texas Tigers, Tomlinson finished with 13 points and 16 rebounds and then followed that performance up with 20 points and 14 rebounds against the Mountaineers. Sophomore guard Lauren Sansano of Texas Lutheran continues to be an efficient bucket for the now-first place Bulldogs averaging 14.5 points on 66.7 percent shooting on the weekend. Sansano also shot 83 percent from deep and 88.9 percent from the line. Sansano is third in the SCAC in field goal percentage, fourth in three-point percentage, and first in free throw percentage. Senior guard Maggie Robbins of Trinity led the Tigers to a split in SCAC play over the last week, averaging 11.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game. She nearly had a triple-double in the loss at Colorado College, scoring 17 points to go with nine rebounds and six steals.
