MATTHEW PEESKER OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior from Toronto, Onterio, Canada, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Sunday, October 13 through Tuesday, October 22. SCAC Golf Release (Week 6)
Peesker fired rounds of 74 and 73 to finish at 147 (+3) and one shot clear of the field in earning medalist honors at the Bash at the Bend, which was contested at the Cypress Bend Golf Resort in Many, La. Peesker led the 52-player field with eight birdies and helped Southwestern to the team title over seven other schools, including four SCAC teams.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Matthew McKenzie of Schreiner shot two rounds of 74 to finish at 148 (+4) and runner-up for medalist honors at the Hardin-Simmons hosted Bash at the Bend in Many, La. McKenzie led the tournament field in par four scoring, coming at +1 for the two-day event. Senior Tobey Wills of Texas Lutheran earned his second top ten finish of the fall season on Tuesday, finishing in third place with a two-day total of 151 (+7), while the Texas Lutheran men's golf team finished as the tournament's runner-up at the Bash at the Bend at Cypress Bend Resort in Many, Louisiana. Junior Parker Smith of Concordia (Texas) finished tied for seventh at the Bash at the Bend, posting rounds of 77 and 79 to finish at 156 (+12). Sophomore Eli Brinton of McMurry paced the War Hawks to a third-place team finish at the Bash at the Bend, finishing tied for ninth among individuals with a two-day score of 157 (81-76).
