Laren Gradt, Southwestern University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 4)

LAREN GRADT OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from Austin, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, September 16th through Sunday, September 22nd. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 4)

Gradt scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in the Pirates’ 2-0 win over East Texas Baptist last Friday. It marked the first points of the season for the senior who helped lift Southwestern to its second win of the year.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore forward Myles McGaha of Austin College continued her outstanding start to her season, helping the 'Roos extend what's become the best start in program history with a 2-0 win at Lyon. McGaha tallied once in the match while constantly being an offensive threat, firing five shots in the win. The goal was her third in eight games this season. Sophomore midfielder Shona Carlton of Centenary scored her first-career goal to lead the Ladies to their first win of the season on Sunday, a 1-0 victory over Wiley University at home. Carlton scored following a corner kick from teammate Sarah Crenshaw in the 80th minute to break a scoreless tie against the Wildcats. Senior midfielder Lilly Hill of Ozarks scored her first goal of the season in a tough 2-1 loss against William Woods. Senior defender Aliyah Bustamante of St. Thomas scored the game-winning goal in the Celts’ 3-1 win over Mississippi University for Women. Her efforts have lifted St. Thomas to its best start through seven fixtures since the Celts joined the SCAC prior to the 2019 season. Senior midfielder Madisyn Barganski of Trinity led the Tigers to a road weekend split in Virginia, falling to No. 5 Christopher Newport before shutting out Virginia Wesleyan. Barganski scored a goal in each game, including the game-winning goal in the 1-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan. Her goal against Christopher Newport tied the game 1-1 and set up the Tigers to take the lead by halftime. It marked just the third time in the last three seasons that a team held a lead against CNU. For the season, Barganski is now tied for the team lead with three goals scored. The game-winner against VWU was the first of her career.
