NINA MITROFANOVA OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Conroe, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, April 5 to Sunday, April 11.
Mitrofanova went 2-0 at No. 1 singles, including a 6-4, 6-3 victory on Saturday in what was a rematch of the 2019 Fall ITA Championship final against All-American Elisa Kendall of East Texas Baptist.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Katelyn Ruiz of Schreiner went 2-0 on the weekend against SCAC opponents, defeating Katy Niday from TLU, 6-0, 6-0, and Callighan Ard of St. Thomas, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1. Senior Zoe Kaffen of Trinity clinched the 8-1 victory over University of St. Thomas on Sunday following a heated battle in the line-one match. The Tiger senior posted her victory in straight sets with a tally of 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 to level her line-one season record at 5-5, 4-1 against NCAA III opponents.
