SAM ANDERSON OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior from Broomfield, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Friday, October 21 to Saturday, October 22. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 3)
Anderson was a huge part of the Pirates' 400 medley relay effort, outswimming the field with a 100 breaststroke split of 58.96 and resulting in a first place finish. Individually, he clocked a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke - posting the fastest time in the conference this season with a 2:13.08. His winning time of 1:57.03 in the 200 IM is the second-fastest time in the conference so far this season.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Jameson Feeney of Centenary won both the 100-yard breast (1:12.93) and 200 breast (2:39.95) in the Gents' non-conference dual meet on Saturday against the Millsaps College. The wins marked the first two individual wins of his career. He was also a member of the Gents' runner-up team in the 200-medley relay which swam a time of 1:57.69. Junior Michael Kohl of Trinity had three crucial swims in the Tigers' win over Colorado College on Friday. He anchored the 200 medley relay in 21.23, to win the event by less than three tenths of a second, and won the individual 50 freestyle in 21.73. The junior saved his best swim for last, splitting 20.77 on the third leg of the winning 200 freestyle relay. Sophomore Jack Hussin of Colorado College won the 200 free in a close race against Southwestern on Saturday (1:47.66) and anchored the winning 400 free relay with 47.61. On Friday at Trinity he was second in the 200 free (1:45.81) and third in the 500 (5:05.02).
