EMMA PERTUIT OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior midfielder from Seabrook, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 28 through Sunday, April 3. (Women's Lacrosse Weekly Release - Week 7)
Pertuit continued to lead the defensive effort for the Pirates last week, combining to collect nine ground balls and causing six turnovers in a pair of road victories at Hanover and Franklin. She has spearheaded a defense that has now limited opponents to five or fewer goals in three-straight contests and a total of seven times this season. Her six ground balls in the win over Franklin tied a season-high for ground balls in a single contest, a mark she has now hit three times this season. Pertuit now leads the SCAC with 51 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers on the year.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year midfielder Healy Bledsoe of Colorado College led the CC defense with four caused turnovers and three ground balls during last week’s two-game road trip to Southern California. Bledsoe also contributed three goals and three assists. Bledsoe now ranks sixth on the team with 14 ground balls and tied for eighth with seven caused turnovers .
