JACOB TANNER OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior infielder from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, February 13 through Sunday, February 19. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 2
Tanner was impressive as the designated hitter last weekend, leading the Pirates to a three-game sweep over North Park. It marks the first 3-0 start to a season since 2005. Tanner batted a blistering .700, going 7-for-10 with six RBI, three runs scored, a home run and a double. Tanner collected a hit in each game and finished with a .615 on-base percentage.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore infielder Dillon McKee of St. Thomas was locked in at the plate in the Celts three game series versus McMurry, batting .625 (5-for-8) with one double, three walks and two runs scored. Senior catcher Holden Philippus of Texas Lutheran went 8-for-15 at the plate in the Bulldogs three games against Texas-Dallas, batting .533 with four RBI, one home run, and four runs scored. Junior right-handed pitcher Hunter Nevilles of Trinity went 2-for-8 at the plate in the Tigers two game series versus Hardin-Simmons, batting .250 with three RBI and one run scored.
