EMMA PERTUIT OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior midfielder from Seabrook, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 21 through Sunday, March 27. (Women's Lacrosse Weekly Release - Week 6)
Pertuit had 10 caused turnovers and 16 ground balls in three games last week, helping the Pirates to go 3-0 and achieve a single season program record win total of nine games (against just one loss). For the season, Pertuit sits atop the SCAC in ground balls (42), caused turnovers (19) and draw controls (50).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder Delia Freliech of Colorado College picked up five ground balls, four draw controls and caused a pair of turnovers while helping CC post a 2-1 record last week. She helped the Tigers post an 6.67 goals-against average during the three games. Defensively, she recorded three draw controls and a ground in the 23-4 victory over Hendrix. She also tied her season highs of two goals and an assist against the Warriors. In the 22-5 victory at Hamline, Freliech tied her career highs of four ground balls and two caused turnovers. She also picked up one draw control and recorded her fourth assist of the year against the Pipers.
