ESTHER BOWERS OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior from Kerrville, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, April 12 to Sunday, April 18.
Bowers defeated Trinity's Megan Flores 7-5, 6-0 in No. 2 singles in Southwestern's 7-2 win over the Tigers - the first-ever win for the Pirates women's program over Trinity. Bowers finishes the regular season with a 9-4 singles record, including a 4-0 record against SCAC opponents.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior Mary Kaffen of Trinity, the Tigers' fourth-line senior, avoided a straight-sets defeat against Southwestern Saturday morning with a 6-1 victory in set two, then posted one of Trinity's four straight-set shutouts against Schreiner later that afternoon.
