ZAC ASBURY OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior attacker from Thousand Oaks, Calif., has been named the SCAC Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 29 through Sunday, April 4.
Asbury with 11 points, scoring five goals with six assists in the Pirates' 27-3 conference win over Centenary. The 11 points ties for the highest in a single game in the league this season. Asbury also contributed five ground balls and one caused turnover.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore attacker Makay Hansen of Colorado College produced eight goals and an assist to lead Colorado College to a pair of victories on its second trip to the East Coast. During Friday's 18-16 victory at Southern Virginia University, Hansen matched his season high of four goals and set up another. Hansen scored a pair of goals to help the Tigers race to a 10-3 lead, and then after Knights closed to within 15-14 early in the fourth quarter, his fourth goal restored a two-goal cushion. He also picked up three ground balls. During Sunday's 12-11 overtime victory at No. 5 Christopher Newport University, the program's first ever over a team ranked in the top five of the USILA Division III Poll, Hansen scored four goals for the fourth time this season. He struck for the first and last goals during a 4-0 run that CC used to turn a 7-4 second-quarter deficit into an 8-7 lead early in the second half. Hansen's fourth goal 39 seconds into the fourth quarter gave the Tigers a 10-8 lead.
