IRVING, Texas -- Top-seeded Southwestern University advanced to its third final in the last four years with a 4-0 victory over fourth-seeded Texas Lutheran University behind a six-point effort from junior Juliet Pridgen on Friday evening at the SCAC Women’s Soccer Tournament on the campus of the University of Dallas. HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southwestern struck early, jumping out to 1-0 lead in the opening five minutes of the match when Pridgen scored her first goal of the contest at the 3:19 mark off a nice feed from freshman Samantha Hazen.
- The Pirates carried a two-goal cushion into half after Sydney Boswell found the back of the net for the second time this season as Pridgen secured her third point of the night with an assist.
- Southwestern then put the game away late in the second, scoring twice in just over three minutes, the first of those coming on an unassisted goal in the 74th minute off the foot of Pridgen. Then in the 77th minute, Madison Koehn lifted a shot over the outstretch arms of the TLU goalkeeper and into the back of the net for her first goal of the season. Pridgen was credited with the assist to end her evening with six points on two goals and two assists.
- Southwestern held an 18-4 edge in shots, including a 8-0 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Pirates finished with a slight, 3-2, edge in corner kicks taken .

- Friday’s semifinal was the third meeting all-time between Southwestern and Texas Lutheran in the SCAC Tournament. In the two previous meetings, both in the semifinal round, Southwestern defeated TLU, 1-0, in the 2016 semifinal and advanced via a penalty shootout in the 2013 semifinal.
- The four goals scored by Southwestern was the most goals in a single SCAC Tournament game in Pirates’ program history.
- Pridgen's six points were the most points registered in a single SCAC Tournament game since Trinity's Kelsey Falcone produced seven on three goals and one assist in a 2013 semifinal win over Dallas.

UP NEXT
By defeating Texas Lutheran, Southwestern (15-1-1) will face second-seeded Trinity in Sunday’s championship match. It will be the third time in the last four seasons these two programs have met in the SCAC Final. The Pirates topped the Tigers, 2-1, in the lone regular season meeting between the two squads back on October 10th. This will mark the fifth appearance for Southwestern in the SCAC final, winning its most recent trip in 2019 against Trinity.
