GARLAND, Texas - Trinity University relay teams turned in two record breaking performances on the opening night of the 20222 SCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championships Wednesday evening at the Garland ISD Natatorium. The Tigers took home top honors in the 200-yard medley relay for the fourth time in five years and became the first team since Southwestern University (2015-2017) to win the 200-yard medley relay three straight years. It also marked the second time that Trinity has won the event for three consecutive seasons. The Tigers last did that from 2012-2014. The foursome of Matt Lanzara, Kendal Southwell, Michael Kohl, and Nolan Anthony touched the wall in a league record time of 1:30.59. Trinity finished the night by smashing the SCAC record in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Kohl, Grayden Nelson, Nathaniel Early, and Daniel Sarman touched the wall in 6:43.01, besting the previous mark of 6:47.01 at the 2012 conference championship meet by four seconds. Colorado College came in second with a time of 6:46.03, which also eclipsed the 2012 league record. Southwestern rounded out the top three by finishing in 6:49.83. 800-Yard Freestyle Relay Interview
