HOBOKEN, N.J. - No. 2 Trinity University Volleyball held Cedar Crest College to a pair of single-digit tallies en route to a sweep (25-9, 25-8, 25-13) to open its 2021 NCAA III Championship Regional action on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology Friday night.

The Tigers (32-2) recorded a blistering .427 hitting percentage, the highest mark as a team since hitting .466 against Sul Ross State University on October 6, 2017, and the highest in a NCAA III tournament match since November 13, 2008 against Webster University (MO).

Senior outside hitter Annie Rose Leggett assumed Trinity Volleyball's runner-up spot all-time in career service aces after collecting five aces against the Falcons. Leggett's career total of 246 aces stands just four away from the outright program record, which has stood since the 1996 campaign.

For the first time in the 2021 campaign, the Tigers stiffled their adversaries to single-digit outputs in two sets with the 25-9 and 25-8 first and second set scores, respectively; a feat last achieved against Texas Lutheran University on April 2, 2021.

Seniors outside hitter Avery Tuggle and rightside hitter Sarah Williammee supplied the bulk of the offense combining for 19 kills on a .548 hitting percentage. Williammee accounted for nine of the duo's combined total on the attack and added a match-high four blocks while Tuggle came two digs shy of a double-double to go with her 10 kills.

Trinity collected an assist on all but one of the team's 41 kills Friday night, 31 of which were accounted for by the setter duo of junior Marisa Amarino and senior Alexis Acevedo.

The Tigers' largest unanswered run of the evening came as the match's tone-setter as the squad posted an 11-0 run in response to Cedar Crest's first point of the first set.
