WAVERLY, Iowa -- Georgia Mullins capped her collegiate career with a match-high 17 kills, but her efforts weren't enough to overcome a near flawless performance by No. 4 Wartburg College on Saturday at Levick Arena.
The Knights hit .289 as team with only six errors on 121 swings and kept their perfect season intact with a 25-18, 25-17, 25-17 victory on their home court.
With her last kill of the match that pulled CC to within 17-16 in the third set, Mullins became just the third Tiger to put down 500 or more in a single season. The senior middle hitter joined Katharine Hauschka, who set the school record of 537 in 2004, and Abbe Holtze, who recorded 522 in 2014, on the exclusive list.
However, after Colorado College pulled to within a point, Wartburg closed out the match with an 8-1 run to improve to 29-0.
Isabella Vasquez, who also played her final match for the Tigers, posted her 15th double-double of the season with 12 kills and a team-best 19 digs.
Jenny Jenks dished out 35 assists and added 12 digs to become the second CC setter to record 400 or more digs in single-season, finishing the year with 410. Her total of 1,370 assists ranks second on the program's single-season chart.
The Knights grabbed the early momentum on the strength of a 9-3 run in the first set that resulted in a 14-7 lead. Colorado College closed to within 16-14 on three consecutive kills from Vasquez, only to see Wartburg score four of the next five points and close out the set on a 9-4 surge.
In the second set, the Tigers were within a point at 14-13 after Mullins served up an ace, but a 5-0 run by the Knights sparked an 11-4 barrage that gave Wartburg a two-set advantage.
Zaiah Quirk led the Knights with 10 kills, while Kennedy Meister produced nine kills and 11 digs.
Colorado College finished the season with a 30-6 record.
Wartburg faces No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the regional final on Sunday. The Athenas defeated Bethel University in straight sets in the first match of the day.
