BELLE ASBURY OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, March 12 through Tuesday, March 18. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 5)
Competing as an individual, Asbury turned in the best performance from any SCAC golfer at the Hal Sutton Invite, hosted by Centenary at The Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City, Louisiana. She fired back-to-back rounds of 83 (+11) to record a 36-hole score of 166 (+22) to finish tied for seventh. Asbury finished the week with two birdies and 14 pars.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Haylee Crowder of Centenary paced the Ladies to a third-place finish at the Hal Sutton Invite this week. Crowder finished just outside the top 10 with an 11th-place finish after rounds of 91 (+19) and 79 (+7) to post a 36-hole score of 170 (+26). Her final round of 79 with the sixth best final round in the field on Tuesday. Senior Kimberly Burch of Dallas led the Crusaders at the Texas Cup to a fourth-place finish after finishing 10th individually. Burch posted rounds of 79 (+7) and 87 (+15) to finish with a cumulative score of 166 (+22). She closed out the week with one birdie and 20 pars. Sophomores Kaitlyn Neel and Karen Santos of McMurry both tied for 15th at the Hal Sutton Invite with matching 36-hole scores of 181 (+37). Neel fired rounds of 93 (+21) and 88 (+16), while Santos posted scores of 95 (+23) and 86 (+14) to secure a top 15 performances.
