EZRAEL POWELL OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 21 through Sunday, March 27. (SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 4)
Powell ran two personal bests at the D3 Challenge to notch second place overall in the 200 at 21.78 (first in conference, and 10th in D3), and sixth place overall in the 100 at 10.91 (second in conference, 30th in D3). He also anchored the team’s 4th place 4x100 relay at 42.63 (the 4x1 team is currently ranked first in the conference and 25th in D3).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Jhancarlos Carpio of St. Thomas finished 21st out of 41 total competitors in the 1500 meters at the Victor Lopez Classic with a time (4:05.94) that bested 10 D1 runners. First-year Azariah Anderson of Trinity ran a new personal best with a winning time of 15.20 in the 110 hurdles - a time that places him first on the SCAC performance list. First-year DeShaun Merritt of Dallas had a three second improvement in the 400 meters with a PR of 54.04.
