Diego Vinton, Texas Lutheran University, Pitcher of the Week (Week 4)

DIEGO VINTON OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Richmond, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, February 27 through Sunday, March 5. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 4

Vinton was impactful as a reliever in the Bulldogs 9-5 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor last weekend. He allowed just one hit and struck out seven batters in five huge shutout innings in relief. Vinton allowed just one walk and posted a 0.00 ERA for the week. Vinton’s steady performance on the mound was critical as TLU came back from five runs down to beat UMHB.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Freshman right-handed pitcher Dominic Gill of Dallas put together a four-strikeout game last weekend while helping to lift the Crusaders over Mississippi University for Women. Gill walked one batter and did not allow a single run on five hits over five innings. Junior right-handed pitcher Cade McGahan of Trinity pitched six-plus innings, allowing one run, and managing nine strikeouts. McGahan gave up just one walk and leads the Tigers and the SCAC with 24 strikeouts this season.
