JAIR ORTEGA OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a freshman defender from Dripping Springs, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, October 24th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 8)
Ortega led the Bulldog offense last week that secured six critical points in the standings to keep TLU alive for postseason play. In the Bulldogs’ win over Dallas, Ortega registered a goal and added and assist and then scored the opening goal in a 2-1 win over Austin College on Sunday. In total, Ortega accounted for five points on two goals and one assist to help keep TLU in the hunt for the SCAC Tournament.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Kiran Singh of Colorado College scored twice in the Tigers’, 7-0, victory over Centenary last Friday night. It marked the second brace of the season and third of the career for Singh, who was also credited with his second game-winning goal of the year. Sophomore forward Zaaron Gonzalez of Schreiner recorded one shot in a 3-0 loss to Trinity last Sunday. Sophomore midfielder Winston Hebert of Southwestern scored an insurance goal in the Pirates’ 2-0 win over Austin College last Friday night and then provided the assist on the game-winning overtime goal against Dallas on Sunday. Hebert finished the weekend with three points to help secure six vital points for the Pirates in the league standings. Senior forward Michael Somerville of Trinity scored twice in his only appearance of the weekend for the Tigers in a 3-0 victory over Schreiner last Sunday.
