JOSIAH DAMIANO OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 22 through Sunday, March 28.
At this past weekend's D3 Challenge, which was hosted by TLU, Damiano won the men's 100 meters in 10.84 from the second heat, a time that bumped him to eighth in all of Division III. He was also fourth in the men's 200 meters in 22.17 and was the lead-off leg on the men's 4x100 relay that placed third in a time of 42.40. His 100 and 200 times were both PRs for him.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman James Urbina of St. Thomas won the 3000 meter steeplechase by a whole minute at the D3 Challenge. Urbina finished in a time of 11:15.48. Sophomore Jalen Leonce of Trinity established two new personal bests in the 110 hurdles and 400 hurdles at the TLU D3 Challenge. He won the 400 with a time of 57.74 and took second in the 110 with a mark of 15.90.
