Alyssa Simien, Texas Lutheran University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 1)

ALYSSA SIMIEN OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior midfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Monday, September 4th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 1)

Simien registered her sixth multigoal performance in her TLU career, scoring twice, including the game-winner in the Bulldogs opening fixture of the season against Schreiner. Trailing 2-1 in the second half, Simien scored a pair of unassisted goals, twenty minutes apart to lift TLU to victory on the road last Friday. Last season Simien finished third in the SCAC with 35 points and currently sits tied for first after the opening weekend of the 2023 season.  
 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Brittany Hutton of Austin College lifted the ‘Roos’ to their first victory of the season on Monday in a non-conference tilt against Dallas Christian. Hutton rang home the game-winner in the 88th minute as Austin College scored three goals in the final 15 minutes to secure the win.  Sophomore forward Abigail Davila of St. Thomas opened her account in the inaugural game of the 2023 season, scoring the equalizer in the Celts 1-1 tie with ETBU last Friday. Davila finished the game with one goal on one shot. Junior forward Abby Schneider of Trinity led the Tigers to a 1-1 road record last weekend, defeating Redlands before getting edged 2-1 by 2022 NCAA Playoff team Pomona-Pitzer. Schneider scored a pair of goals in the win over Redlands, including the 2023 season's first goal of the year just 43 seconds into the match.
