ASHLYN STROTHER OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore right-hander from Seabrook, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 7 through Sunday, March 13. SCAC Softball Release - Week 6
Strother had three dominant performances in the circle for the Bulldogs last week, going 3-0 with two complete game shutouts, striking out 32 batters in 17.2 innings of work. She scattered just nine hits and two walks over three games and didn’t allow a single run. Strother has now racked up double digit strikeouts in five of her last six appearances, including three-straight last week and has amassed 63 strikeouts during that stretch. She currently leads the SCAC in strikeouts and is top 10 in the category nationally.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year pitcher Taylor McKenzie of Southwestern posted a 2-1 record in three appearances last week for the Pirates. She threw two complete-game wins, including Southwestern’s 3-2 victory over then-ranked No. 23 Case Western Reserve. She finished the week with a 1.78 ERA, striking out nine to just three walks in 19.2 innings of work. Senior Lindsey Longuet of St. Thomas posted a perfect 2-0 record in the circle last week for the Celts with a pair of wins over SCAC foe Dallas. In 12 innings of work, Longuet allowed just three hits and struck out 14 while posting a 0.00 ERA. Senior Cat Patterson of Trinity was outstanding for the Tigers in the circle last week, posting a 3-0 record with one save in four appearances. In total she pitched 21 innings, allowing just six earned runs on 20 hits, striking out seven and posting a 1.97 ERA.
