XAVIER ARIAS, TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior utility from La Vernia, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week of the Week for games played from Friday, February 2 through Sunday, February 11. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 1
Arias hit a scorching .480 to lead the Bulldogs to a 5-2 mark over the first week of play in 2024. He currently leads the SCAC with 12 hits, including five extra base hits, highlighted by a pair of home runs, two doubles and a triple. Arias has recorded at least one hit in all seven Bulldogs contests this year and has collected at least one RBI in five of the seven contests, highlighted by all five in TLU’s 5-0 win over Concordia last Friday. For the week, Arias batted .480 with 12 hits, seven runs scored, nine RBI, two stolen bases and an impressive .517 on-base percentage and .880 slugging percentage.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior outfielder Tyler Juarez of Schreiner played a pivotal role at the plate in the Mountaineers three games against Howard Payne last week, batting .600 (6-for-10) with four RBI, a double, and three runs scored. Juarez had an on-base percentage of .636 last week. Junior infielder Dillon McKee of St. Thomas opened the 2024 campaign red hot, batting .417 (5-for-12) to the Celts to a 2-1 record. McKee finished the week with four runs scored, three home runs and eight RBI to earn a series win over non-conference for Ozarks.
