ANNIE KAY OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior outfielder from Sinton, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 14 through Sunday, April 20. SCAC Softball Release - Week 11
Kay continues to be a force for the Bulldogs offense as she hit .556 on the weekend (5-for-9), climbing to the top of the SCAC leaderboard with a .459 average for the season. She tallied five hits against Dallas including two for extra bases and drove in at least one run in every game over the series sweep. Kay also continues 1`to dominate the base paths as she see-saws with teammate Caelee Clark for the national lead, stealing four bases on the weekend to sit in second nationally with 49. Kay finished the week with a .636 on-base percentage, six runs scored, four RBI, two doubles and a .778 slugging percentage.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior outfielder Kya Schmidt of Ozarks recorded the game-winning hit last Friday to push the Eagles to a 3-2 win over McMurry. With a runner of third base, Schmidt poked a single to left field to send the Eagles into celebration. Schmidt finished the series hitting .375 with two RBI and two runs. First-year Breyanna Jones of Schreiner was outstanding in leading the Mountaineers to a series win over Southwestern last weekend on the road. Jones hit .625 (5-for-8) with four runs scored, three RBI, one double and five stolen bases. Jones earned three walks to post a .727 on-base percentage and slugged .750 on the week Senior outfielder Jodi Glenn-Millhouse of Southwestern led the Pirates at the plate last weekend in a three-game series against Schreiner. Glenn-Millhouse hit .364 (4-for-11) with five RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Senior outfielder Leah Gonzalez of Trinity led the Tigers to a three-game SCAC weekend sweep against Centenary, wrapping up the regular season home schedule. Gonzalez hit .625 (5-for-8) across the series with a home run, scoring two runs and picking up five RBI. She started the series with her best game, going 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI. Gonzalez is batting .449 (31-for-69) with nine runs and 18 RBI, and is tied for the team lead with three home runs.
