BRAYLEN BROWN OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a first-year from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, April 7 through Sunday, April 13. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 7
Brown ran 47.84 in the 400 meters to win the War Hawk Classic. He now leads the SCAC and is 17th on the national list in the event. Brown also ran 21.56 in the 200 meters to finish eighth in a very strong field, and he ran the anchor leg for the 4x100 relay.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Rabbit Barnes of Colorado College broke his own school record in the 800 meter run Friday night at the prestigious KT Woodman Classic in Wichita, Kansas. Barnes finished fourth in the race with a time of 1:51.45, surpassing his previous record of 1:51.88, set last season. He owns the 15th-fastest time in Division III for the 800 this season. First-year Kamryn Cleveland of McMurry competed in the long jump, triple jump, 100 meters and 200 meters at the War Hawk Classic. in the 100, he ran a lifetime best of 10.59, which ranks fourth in the SCAC and the region, and 31st nationally. In the 200, Cleveland ran 21.40, which ranks first in the SCAC, second in the region, and 11th in the nation. Senior Ryan Tresaugue of Trinity set two new personal bests in both the 800 and 1500 meters at the Carl Kight Invitational. He placed eighth with a 3:51.99 in the 1500 and third in the 800 with a 1:52.37. First-year Alex Bozhilov of Dallas, competing in the Carl Kight Lumberjack Invitational, broke his own 5,000 meter record with a time of 14:47.49 placing him fourth. He was the top NCAA DIII athlete competing and is currently ranked third in the SCAC. Sophomore Sean Dansby of Schreiner won the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.88 at the War Hawk Classic - establishing a personal record and improvement on his own school record. Dansby also anchored the 4x400 team which finished third overall with a time of 3:21.88, which was also established a new school record. Junior Juan Silva of St. Thomas ran a personal best of 1:59.49 at the Carl Knight Invitational - a performance that moves him to fourth-best in program history. Senior Thomas Hughes of Concordia (Texas) established a season-best time of 10:25.02 in the 3000 steeplechase, placing first and beating the competition by 18 seconds at the War Hawk Classic. In the 5000 meter race, he clocked in at 16:35.34. Senior Walker Reeves of LeTourneau finished 10th overall in the 1500 meters with a personal record time of 3:53.99 at the Carl Kight Invitational, hosted by Stephen F. Austin. The time places him 37th in the nation in the event. Reeves also had a personal-best mark in the 800 meters at 1:57.13. First-year Jace Macbee of Ozarks, despite never breaking the 18-minute mark in the 5k during high school, achieved an impressive 16:55 finish at the KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State University, placing 69th out of 84 runners.
