JOE BURCH OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior right-handed pitcher from Geronimo, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Saturday, February 28 through Sunday, March 6. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 4
Burch threw a complete game gem against Sul Ross St. last week in the opener of a three-game series sweep. He allowed just one run on four hits, while striking out four and only walking two in seven innings of work to post a 1.29 ERA.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior right-hander Preston Ludwick of Centenary went 1-0 last week for the Gents earning a victory in a blowout win over Occidental. He picked up the win over the Tigers as he pitched six innings and allowed just three runs and six hits with two walks and six strikeouts. First-year right-hander Jack Martinez of Trinity allowed just one run on five hits over five innings of relief in his only game last week, helping the No. 17 Tigers earn a 2-2 series split with sixth-ranked UW-Whitewater. Martinez struck out seven batters in his relief appearance, holding the Warhawks to just one run over the middle innings of the series opener.
