Junior Matthew Hicks of St. Thomas placed second and led all SCAC opponents in the high jump at the Trinity Invitational. Hicks cleared a height of 1.95m, setting the bar high for meets to come. Junior Pierce Jackson of Trinity finished fourth overall and was first among Division III athletes with a throw of 55.37 meters in the javelin over the weekend, as the Tigers opened up the outdoor season by hosting the Trinity Invitational. That mark is a new PR and moves him up to seventh in school history. Senior Derek Smith of Centenary recorded the second-best shot put throw in the league this season (13.71m) at the Mississippi College Spring Cleaning Classic on Saturday - the Gents' season-opening meet. He also recorded the 12th-best discus throw in the conference (29.44m).
