BLADE STRZELCZYK OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior pitcher from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, April 24 through Sunday, April 30. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 12
Strzelczyk shut down regionally ranked Southwestern last Friday, striking out eight batters and only allowing one unearned run on six hits and four walks.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First year left-handed pitcher Cody Myers of Centenary was impressive in 8.2 innings of work last weekend. Myers struck out seven batters and scattered just five hits while allowing just one run to post an ERA of 1.04. Junior right-handed pitcher Cade McGahan of Trinity tossed 5.2 innings of relief, allowing nine hits, and striking out eight batters to collect a win in the second game of the series against St. Thomas last weekend. McGahan is now 5-1 with a 2.28 ERA this season. First year pitcher Andrew Hardin of Southwestern made a pair of appearances last week, including tossing 5.0 innings in the Pirates win over Austin College last Monday. In total Hardin worked 6.2 innings, scattering five hits and allowing just one run to post a 1.35 ERA on the week. He also posted a remarkable 18.90 K/9 with his 14 strikeouts in less than seven innings of action.
