SERENA GONZALEZ OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior utility player from Corpus Christi, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 7 through Sunday, April 13. SCAC Softball Release - Week 10
Gonzalez was white hot at the plate this weekend hitting .833 with three extra base hits, including two homers and 10 RBIs with six of those coming in the series finale against Schreiner. With Gonzalez's homer on Sunday, she joins Haley Padilla as the only two members of Texas Lutheran's 20 career home run club. The six RBI performance is the 11th in program history where one player was responsible for at least six runs driven in in a single contest.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior utility Katie Duffy-Relf of Dallas was unstoppable at the plate this week, going a perfect 7-for-7 with a 1.000 batting average and on-base percentage across three games. She drove in four runs, scored twice, and added a double for a scorching 1.143 slugging percentage, without striking out once. Her flawless performance and clutch production was a spark plug for this weekends series win over Ozarks. Junior catcher Chloe Bennett of St. Thomas powered the Celt offense this week, hitting .500 with eight RBIs and four runs scored across four games. She tallied a triple and a home run while posting a .529 on-base percentage and .857 slugging. Junior outfielder Malarie Mican of Concordia (Texas) was excellent at the plate in the series sweep over Austin College as she led the Tornados with an .750 batting average (8-for-11), five runs, and eight stolen bases. In game one, Mican went 3-for-4 with one run and a RBI. She then was perfect in game two as she went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, two walks, and a career-high four stolen bases. She then followed that up in game three by going 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs, one RBI, and another four stolen bases. First-year infielder Kaitlynn Alello of Centenary went 4-for-8 (.500) at the plate for the weekend against McMurry at home as she had a career-high four hits in game one of the series, finishing 4-for-5 with a double. Alello now has eight multi-hit games this season. First-year outfielder Kyndal Garner of Ozarks went 5-for-8 (.625) over three games against University of Dallas. Garner had a pair of multiple-hit games with two doubles.
