ANNIE KAY OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior outfielder from Sinton, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 21 through Sunday, April 27. SCAC Softball Release - Week 12
Kay was incredible at the plate hitting an insane .900 (9-for-10) at the plate in the Bulldogs' three-game sweep of McMurry. The junior had six stolen bases to go along with her four RBIs and six runs scored. She and teammate Caelee Clark are now 1-2 in the nation in stolen bases as Clark leads with 59 and Kay is just behind at 55 swipes.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior outfielder Alexus Johnson of Austin College had a big weekend at the plate as the 'Roos closed out the season with a series win over Ozarks. Johnson batted .875 (7-for-8) with an on-base percentage of .909 and a 1.375 slugging percentage, scoring three runs, driving in three more, with two triples and a stolen base. She had at least two hits in all three games of the series. Junior left-fielder Laine Sullivan of Centenary was red-hot for the Ladies over the weekend as she hit .500 (4-for-8) in a series win at Schreiner. Sullivan had seven RBI, a double, two runs scored, three walks, a stolen base, and did not strike out all weekend. She had a career-high four RBI in a 7-5 win on Friday and had two hits for her sixth multi-hit game of the season. Senior third baseman Jaelyn Simmons of St. Thomas delivered a standout performance at the plate this week, hitting .400 across three games. She totaled four hits, including a double, scored five runs, and drove in two. Simmons also stole two bases and posted an impressive .500 on-base percentage. Senior designated player Addison Lehew of Concordia (Texas) had another explosive weekend at the plate in the three-game series sweep against Southwestern. The senior went 4-for-9 with three doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored.
