LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse was busy last week with six games on the schedule, three of the four league teams in action and highlighted by Dallas and Johnson & Wales each collecting their first win of the season.
Southwestern (3-2) dropped its lone contest of the week, falling to St. Mary’s (Ind.), 17-12, last Sunday. In the loss senior attack Johnee Wolter led the way for the Pirates with five goals and one assist for a total of six points. It was the highest single point total of the week for any SCAC women’s lacrosse athlete. Defensively Emma Pertuit collected a game-high four ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Dallas (1-3) jumped out to a 5-0 lead and held on to defeat Culver-Stockton College, 10-4, for the Crusaders first win of the season. It marked the first win at Dallas for new head coach, Kaitlin Cochran. Emily Pauletti led the team in scoring again with four goals to bring her total to 13 on the season. Gabby Dixon led the Crusaders with a team-high five caused turnovers and matched a game-high eight ground balls.
Johnson & Wales (1-4) was pack with action last week, playing four different contests, posting a record of 1-3. The Wildcats got their first win of the season on Saturday when they knocked off Adams St., 12-10. Trailing 5-1 in the first half, JWU outscored Adams St., 11-5, including 5-3 in the second half to secure the victory. Ashley Guerrero led the way with four goals on the afternoon to go along with six ground balls, four caused turnovers and three draw controls. The cage for JWU, sophomore Brigid McCollam racked up nine saves in the win.
SCAC Women’s Lacrosse continues this week with all four teams in action, highlighted by the return of Colorado College to the field on Monday when they host Wesleyan to start a very busy week for the CC Tigers.
