TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the 2020 All-Academic Teams and Scholar Athletes Wednesday and 11 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference programs and 76 student-athletes were recognized.
Austin College, Colorado College, Schreiner University, Southwestern University and Trinity University were all recognized as All-Academic teams on both the men's and women's side. The Texas Lutheran University women were also recognized.
The TU Tigers made up 17 of the 76 athletes honored, while the Pirates accounted for 16. Austin College followed with 13 scholar athletes.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2019 and spring 2020) and must be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) and 3.) be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
