MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Trinity University rose to the No. 2 spot while the Centenary College Gents received their first spot in the D3baseball.com Top 25 this year.
The D3baseball.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly. Full members of NCAA Division III are eligible.
Trinity had a 3-1 week to improve to a 17-4 overall mark including a 2-1 series win over SCAC rival, Southwestern University. The Trinity bats continued to be led by senior infielder Nicholas Jewett who is leading the team with a .394 average and a .500 OBP.
The Tiger pitchers are led by Troy Nelson who posts a team-best 1.82 ERA and 39 strikeouts.
Centenary College sits at No. 24 earned a 3-0 series sweep over Austin College including back-to-back 10-0 wins to close out the series. The Gents swept the SCAC Player of the Week awards with senior pitcher Holden Novak picking up Pitcher of the Week and was also named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week. junior outfielder Michael Schimpf was named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week.
The Centenary bats are led by Schimpf who posts a .431 average and a .565 OBP. Sophomore pitcher Jackie Allen posts a team best 1.91 ERA.
