KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released the 2015-16 winners of the College Team Academic Awards and three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer programs earned the honor.
Schreiner University, Texas Lutheran University and Trinity University were among 577 women's teams who earned the honor this season.
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
Texas Lutheran, led by head coach Larry Schaffer, posted the highest GPA in the conference with a 3.52, to earn their third consecutive award. Trinity followed with their 10th consecutive honor and 16th overall, with a 3.45 GPA. Schreiner, led by head coach Nick Morrison, posted a team GPA of 3.19 to round out the trio with their fourth award.
Texas Lutheran and Trinity were also among 221 schools who earned the award on both the men's and women's side.
