MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Despite winning their lone out-of-conference matchup against Mary Hardin-Baylor this week, the Trinity University Tigers slid to No. 6 in the latest D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25. The Centenary College Gents also fell to No. 16 after dropping two games to No. 24 Texas Lutheran University.
The D3baseball.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly. Full members of NCAA Division III are eligible.
Trinity defeated Mary Hardin-Baylor 10-5 in their lone matchup of the week to improve to 29-7 overall and 11-4 in conference play.
The Bulldogs dropped the first game of the series to the Gents 7-5 in extras, but answered with two huge offensive showings in games two and three to snag the series. TLU held on to their top spot in the standings and sit at 23-11 overall and 13-2 in conference play. The Gents are now firmly in the third place spot at 24-9 overall and 9-6 in SCAC play.
Both Trinity and TLU have clinched a spot in the SCAC Tournament. The Bulldogs will take on Southwestern University this weekend while the Tigers face Austin College. Centenary will travel to Dallas to close out the season.
