LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association released the Division III Top 25 poll for the first week of competition. Colorado College jumped from 15th to 13th after opening the season undefeated. Southwestern University also broke into the rankings after a perfect 5-0 start. SU is tied with Coe College at #23.
Southwestern's weekend featured four tough teams in UT Dallas, Millsaps, Illinois Wesleyan and Whitworth. UT Dallas was the only school to win a set from the Pirates as the Comets forced a five-set match for the Pirates to earn the win.
Kaitlyn Foster led SU on the weekend with 66 kills and was second in digs with 71. Andie Alford was the team leader in digs with 75 and aces with nine whileKirby Kincannon logged 13 blocks on the week.
Colorado College opeed against Johnson & Wales University (Colo.), Franklin College, Carleton College, the University of Texas at Tyler and the University of Dubuque at the Colorado College Classic tournament. CC's only dropped set was against the University of Texas at Tyler.
Colorado College's Courtney Birkett was also named Offensive Player of the Week during CC's 5-0 opening run.
