MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Junior linebacker Ben Bouchez of Austin College and Texas Lutheran University's offensive line comprised of Tyler Howlett, Andrew Rodriguez, Daven Klein, Christopher Bennett and Eddie Scott have been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Bouchez, a McKinney, Texas native, led an Austin College defense that came up with eight takeaways, including six interceptions, in a 55-12 win over Whittier. Bouchez had two picks, both of which he returned for touchdowns. He returned his first interception 52 yards for a score, and added a 45-yard interception return in the fourth quarter. He also had three tackles.
Bouchez's performance also earned him the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week for week three.
Playing without starting right guard Johnny Garcia, the Bulldogs still piled up 519 yards of total offense and ran 88 plays in a 38-14 home win vs. Louisiana College. The offensive line paved the way for TLU backs to rush for 300 yards on 53 carries and did not allow a sack in 48 combined quarterback passes/scrambles.
The 2-1 Bulldogs will take on Southwestern Assemblies of God this Saturday.
