LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - All four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference football programs kicked off the 2016 season on Saturday.
Trinity University picked up the league's only non-conference win, holding on for a 34-27 home victory over University of the Redlands.
The Tigers used a 13-point second quarter to take a 20-3 lead into halftime, sparked by an interception return for a touchdown by junior linebacker Mitchell Globe.
The league's only nationally-ranked team, No. 21 Texas Lutheran, was upset 44-20 by East Texas Baptist University.
