This goal was Johnston's second of the year, with his first coming in overtime of the SCAC Men's Soccer Championship to give Trinity the title.
The Tigers had to wait until the 71st minute before they could tally another score, as Ryan Hunter sent in a long ball with Kellen Reid and Daylon Gordon earning the assists. Edwards closed out the scoring in the 86th minute with a one touch goal off of a cross from Chris Madden on the right side.
The Tigers outshot Whitworth 30-9 in the game, with the majority of their shots coming in the first half. Goalkeeper Todd Whittaker made four major saves for Trinity, while the Pirates' keeper tallied 12. Trinity also held a 15-6 advantage in corner kicks.
