GENEVA, Ohio -- On the final day of the 2017 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships, two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's track athletes highlighted the action.
Texas Lutheran University's Marquis Brown competed in the 400-meter as well as the 4x100-meter relay. He was joined by Bryce Johnson, Darren Jones and Paris Foster in that event. Trinity University was represented by Cody Hall in the 110-meter hurdles.
Brown made a late push down the homestretch of the 400, but could not catch national champion Ross Denman of Wisconsin-La Crosse, who finished in a time of 46.89 seconds.
The USTFCCCA South/Southeast Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year for Division III, Brown crossed the line in 47.21 and collected his second All-America honor of 2017.
Brown was in fourth around the final turn and nearly caught Ethan Valentine of Calvin (Mich.) at the line for second.

Hall placed fourth in the hurdles, clocking in at 14.31 seconds. He was seeded seventh coming into the event, and finished ninth at last year's NCAA meet.
This is the second time this season that Hall has garnered All-America accolades, as he placed second in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.

In the 4x100 relay, the Bulldogs had trouble on the opening hand-off and exceeded the exchange zone. The Bulldogs were disqualified for the zone violation. TLU still ran all of its four legs during the race but was notified of the disqualification shortly after finishing.
