Trinity Women Continue Lead After Third Day of SCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship

LEWISVILLE, Texas -Trinity University maintained its lead over Colorado College after the third day of the 2017 SCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship. The Texas Tigers pushed their lead to 680-552 over the Colorado Tigers. Southwestern University rounds out the top-three with 467 points. Official Website | Friday's Complete Results | Team Scores 

Trinity junior Rebecca Andruzzi earned top honors in the 400 IM as she touched the wall in 4:42.14 beating out teammate Ivy Claflin who finished in 4:42.87. Rounding out the top-three was Southwestern University senior Alexandra Morris. She clocked a time of 4:47.28.

In the 100 fly, Colorado College won the event for the consecutive year as junior Ellen Silk touched the wall in an NCAA "B" cut time of 56.31. During prelims earlier today Silk also posted a "B" cut time of 56.66. Sophomore Paige Johnson of Trinity finished second with a time of 58.69. Senior Kenly Gaynor of Southwestern was third after posting a time of 59.49.

Trinity first-year Abbie Jones took home the 200 free championship by finishing in 1:55.08. First-year Jio Chang of Colorado College finished second by clocking a 1:55.15 while classmate and teammate Alma Jukic rounded out the top-three with a time of 1:57.17.

In the 100 breast, Trinity junior Lindsay Hagmann took top honors by touching the wall in 1:07.03. Sophomore Kate Guynn of the Colorado College Tigers was second with a time of 1:08.86. Finishing in third was sophomore Sam Rao of Southwestern who tallied a time of 1:09.80. 

Junior Robyn Remschel of McMurry earned the win in the 100 back as she posted an NCAA "B" cut time of 56.99. She finished 1.39 seconds ahead of first-year Sarah Dunbar of Colorado College (58.38). Trinity's Johnson rounded out the top-three as she finished in 59.23.

The Colorado Tigers finished the night with a win in the 400 medley relay. The quartet of Dunbar, Guynn, Silk, and junior Justina Zuckerman touched the wall in 3:57.75. They beat out Trinity (Star Rosales, Hagmann, Johnson, and Jones - 3:59.66) and Southwestern (Madison Doty, Rao, Gaynor, and Erika Dubros - 4:04.56).

Trinity swept the top three spots in the 3-meter diving competition as Sara Kate Mrkonich won the event with a score of 450.15. Teammate Christine Peterson posted a 443.30 mark while Mollie Claire Patzke finished third with a score of 436.70.

Competition concludes on Saturday with preliminaries beginning at 10:30 a.m., and women's and men's finals at 6 p.m. The 23 graduating seniors competing in this year's meet will be honored in a senior recognition ceremony beginning at 5:45 p.m.. Click here for the complete schedule of events.
